About
I am a computational chemist. We explore chemical space and build scientific tools; I also write about the institutions in which research and teaching happen.
I am a Professor in the School of Digital Sciences at Digital University Kerala. In our research, we combine computational chemistry, automated exploration and machine learning, particularly for problems where chemical structure, mechanism and discovery are tightly connected.
Before joining Digital University Kerala, I served at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, first as Assistant Professor and later as Associate Professor. Earlier, I carried out postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung and the University of Bonn. I completed my PhD at the University of Hyderabad under Professor E. D. Jemmis.
Alongside research and teaching, I have worked in academic administration, editorial service and university governance. These experiences shape my interest in how scientific and educational institutions make decisions—and in the distance that can develop between formal policy and academic practice.
